The airport of Ibiza
Only 7.5 km from Ibiza Town, and extremely well linked to the most important tourist
centers, Ibiza Airport is the islands main connection artery with Spain, Europe
and the world and one of its principal dynamos for employment both directly and
indirectly. It therefore plays a key role in the area's economic development.
Since its beginnings, the airport of Ibiza has experienced spectacular growth in the number
of travelers to the point where it reached 4,171,589 passengers in 2004.
This growth has been in keeping with the work to improve facilities undertaken
or in the planning phase that aim to position the Ibiza airport on the level of the
Mediterranean's best and meet the needs and expectations of an ever increasing
and more demanding tourist industry.
The island of Ibiza offers its visitors a gentle and mildly mountainous landscape
that invites them to look at its scenery, pine groves and valleys, and to discover
its 56 beaches of fine sand protected from the wind.
To guarantee quality service, Ibiza Airport believes in the constant renovation
of its facilities and infrastructures. The aim of this ongoing improvement is to
provide an adequate response to the continual growth in tourism.
The most noteworthy improvements include the construction of the new Rescue and
Fire Fighting Building, the refurbishment of the runways and several
improvements in the electrical systems.
These projects once again demonstrate Aena's spirit and philosophy for
all its airports: provide the finest quality service so that users feel more
comfortable. This is shown by our achievement in November 2003 of the
ISO 9001 Quality Certification.
A true treasure of nature in our care.
Ibiza Airport obtained the ISO 14001 Environmental Certificate in June 2000.
This is a sign of the airports efforts to minimize its noise levels and impact on
the atmosphere and its constant desire to work in harmony with the world
around us.
Ibiza airport environmental management plan includes a number of initiatives aimed at
balancing the constant increase in air traffic and passengers with the preservation of
one of the islands most cherished treasures, its natural resources.
Ibiza airport has all the amenities travelers need.
The idea of light, openness, hospitality and life on the island is also reflected in the
Ibiza airport. It takes on special importance in a terminal where large spaces and the
varied range of services make passengers feel more comfortable and relaxed.
Cafeterias, restaurants, gift shops, music, clothes and souvenir shops, island
cuisine and crafts, jewellery, banks, car hire and information points aim to offer
users all the service and leisure opportunities to make their stay at the Ibiza airport more
pleasant and their good memories of the island even better.
